Curtis, Age 7
In January of 2002 our son Curtis was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. He was 3 1/2 years old. After his first round of chemo while his defenses were down he became deathly sick with a bacterial infection. He ended up in PICU on a respirator fighting for his life. Due to a lot of prayer and medical miracle his life was saved. We spent 78 straight days in the hospitalbefore he was able to come home. He was very weak but he learned to walk again and become stronger. In June of the same year he was admitted for a bone marrow transplant with his older brother as a perfect match donor. He spent six weeks in the hospital and the next 180 days at home in basic isolation.
It has been four years now. He is 7 and doing great! He now only visits one time a year for a checkup. This is Curtis' first year participating in Dance Marathon. He enjoys baseball, Game Boy, running, NASCAR, and reading. Curtis has a brother Allen, 11 years old, and sister Anna, 10 years old.
