Dana, Age 13

When Dana was four months old, she was diagnosed with a disease known as Neurofibromatosis. This disease causes tumors to grow on nerves. When Dana was two years of age, she began having seizures. An MRI showed that she had a tumor behind her left eye. This caused the onset of blindness in that eye. Dana then began treatment for this optic nerve tumor. She received chemotherapy at DeVos Children’s Hospital.

Dana is an amazing girl! She loves dogs. Real dogs, stuffed animals, posters, anything with dogs! Her room even has dog wallpaper! Dana really enjoys reading and shopping! Dana’s parents are Rick and Beth. She also has a sister Leah who is 15. They enjoy camping, playing games, boating and taking their dog Bruno for walks. Dana's family is excited to participate in the Dance Marathon for their fifth year.
