miracle families

dykemas In 1980, the U.S. Men's Olympic hockey team's victory over the USSR led to broadcaster Al Michaels' famous call "Do you believe in miracles?" Today, the Children's Miracle Network and DeVos Children's Hospital are raising this question all over again. The Miracle Children, who are kids that have benefited from the services at DeVos Children’s Hospital, represent the true reason for the event. These Miracle Children also represent DeVos Children’s Hospital as a whole. What makes the representation possible is the support and inclusion of their families as well. The Hope College students are eager to know the children, their siblings, and their parents (some are even Hope College Alumni or Staff). We are excited to have had a total of 20 Miracle Families last year.

Each student organization involved in Dance Marathon is paired with a Miracle Family. Throughout the year, each organization invites the families to on-campus events, in order to connect with them. The Family Relations Committee also plans events. This year we've already participated in the Homecoming parade, and had a Christmas party. emily and kids

These families motivate the students throughout the year in their fundraising and planning efforts. They also help Dance Marathon participants understand the impact of their contributions. Each Miracle Family has an inspirational story to share. Take some time and read their stories by clicking on the names to the left. These children are truly miracles!
