Kathy EvansLecturer in Chemistry
Kathy Evans joined Hope College as a part-time general chemistry laboratory instructor in 2008. In a previous life, she wandered the Swiss Alps studying the foraging behavior of alpine ibex, discovered a new biochemical pathway in the ligninolytic fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium and published an article on dinosaurs in the Gale Encyclopedia of Science.

Outside the College
Kathy is married to Tim Evans, a biology professor at Grand Valley State University. They like to fight —Tim has a black belt in karate, and Kathy is nearly there. They also have two wonderful sons. On Thursday evenings, she plays bassoon with the Hope College Concert Band.
