President John Knapp’s wife, Kelly, is an active volunteer leader on the Hope College campus, where she is responsible for programs and mentoring opportunities for students. She leads the spouses’ program for the annual Oxford Conclave on Global Higher Education and has been a program facilitator for the Council for Independent Colleges Presidents Institute. She also plays a key role in hospitality and community engagement on behalf of the President’s Office.
Prior to coming to Hope, she homeschooled three of the Knapps’ five children, was a substitute teacher and served as the adviser to a middle school newspaper.
Earlier in her career, she was editor of the internal newsletter of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A native of Tucson, Arizona, she is a journalism graduate of Georgia State University.
