Jon OsbornAdjunct Associate Professor of Sociology & Social Work
Jon Osborn ’70 has been teaching in the social work department at Hope for over 40 years. In fact, his Hope College ID number reads 000000059 a far cry from the ID numbers students and staff are issued today!
Through the years Jon has taught introduction to social welfare, child welfare, social work interviewing and a first-year seminar, “How to Listen, How to Talk".

Jon started his career as a school social worker for the Holland Public School District. He eventually began to teach evenings at Hope College in the social work department.
He retired from Holland Public schools in 2011 but continues to teach at Hope.
Jon also taught School Social Work at the Social Work Department at Western Michigan University.
Outside the College
Jon enjoys lots of contact with his three sons, his two grandchildren and his lovely wife. He rides a road bike during the summer and a training bike during the winter. He actively seeks to improve his tennis game, which happens some days and not others.
