This multi-Grammy winning a capella group first came to the attention of most Americans when they worked with Paul Simon on his 1986 “Graceland” recording. But this group was already established by that time, and for more than 30 years they have married the intricate rhythms and harmonies of their native South Africa musical traditions to the sounds and sentiments of Christian gospel music. Their most recent Grammy Award was the 2005 Best Traditional World Music Recording award.

“In song after song, Black Mambazo’s team of bass voices
turned into a mighty engine...carrying a clapping, foot-tapping audience along.” Los Angeles Times

“Its seven bass voices and...three tenors...sounded like one deep, rich, resonant and proud voice.” New York Times
