Awards for academic achievement during the current school year were presented to Hope College students during the college's annual Honors Convocation on  Thursday, April 23

Hope College emeritus professor and academic administrator John W. Hollenbach died on Sunday, April 19, 1998, at his home.

Jane R. Dickie and Barbara A. Mezeske of the Hope College faculty have been named recipients of the college's "Provost's Award for Excellence in Teaching."

Two Hope College professors have received a book-of-the-year award for the second time.  "The Rhetoric of Vision," edited by Charles A. Huttar and Peter J.

"After the Serpent's Word," a volume of poetry by Francis Fike, professor of English at Hope College, has recently been published by Fithian Press in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Jackie Bartley, adjunct assistant professor of English at Hope College, has had a book of poetry published by White Eagle Coffee Store Press of Fox River Grove, Ill.
