A collaborative faculty-student research project co-led by Dr. Vicki-Lynn Holmes, assistant professor of mathematics and education at Hope College, has won the college’s fourth annual “Social Sciences Young Investigators Award.”

Dr. Heidi Kraus of the Hope College art faculty is one of a select group of faculty members nationwide chosen by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) to participate in a special week-long seminar on teaching European art in context.

A total of five members of the Hope College faculty have been named to listings of the top-25 professors in Michigan in the fields of education and psychology by Statestats.org.

Tim Schoonveld, assistant professor of kinesiology and co-director of athletics at Hope College, will present “BLESSED: A Life Shaped by Others” on Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m. in the Maas Center auditorium through the “Last Lecture Series” organized by the college’s Alcor chapter of the national Mortar Board honorary society.

Three members of the Hope College faculty will be retiring at the end of the school year: Lynne Hendrix, professor of accountancy; Maura Reynolds, associate professor of Latin and director of advising; and Dr. William Reynolds, dean for the arts and humanities and professor of English.

The Hope College Alumni Association will honor three alumni during the annual Alumni Banquet on Saturday, April 27.

Dr. Peter Gonthier of the Hope College physics faculty is part of an international team whose on-going research into the nature of the rotating stars known as pulsars has received a new round of support from NASA.

Long-time Hope College faculty member John Yelding has been named the first recipient of the college’s new Susan M. and Glenn G. Cherup Professorship in Education.

The Division for the Natural and Applied Sciences (NAS) at Hope College has honored four faculty and staff members with awards designed to recognize excellence in teaching, research and service.

Dr. Patrice Rankine, a long-time member of the faculty and administrator at Purdue University, has been appointed dean for the arts and humanities at Hope College.
