- The Pull
 |
The Pull, which debuted in 1898,
is one of Hope's longest traditional events. Each fall a team
of freshman and sophomore men train intensively for a tug-of-war.
Pits are dug and morale partners help encourage the effort
of each puller. |
Civic Center
| Located at 8th and
Pine, the Civic Center is where regular season home men's basketball
games are played. It is also the location of the fall Nykerk
Cup competition. In this event, first held in 1936, the freshman
women compete against the sophomore women in song, drama, and
oration. The Civic Center has also long served as a rain location
for Hope's commencement exercises. |
