Circulation ServicesOur goal is to make library materials available to as many people as possible in a fair, efficient, friendly manner. There are four locations: Van Wylen Library Main Circulation Desk (395-7905), Media Services (2nd floor, 395-7797), the Music Library in Nykerk Hall (395-7659), and Beardslee Library at Western Theological Seminary (392-8555). Overdue and Billed MaterialsOverdue fines are assessed at the following rates and should be paid at the library:
Items that are long overdue will be considered lost and will be billed per the following:
Returning the billed item will remove the replacement cost and leave a $5 overdue fine.
Recall Fines:
There is a Multi Function Peripheral (MFP) machine on the 1st floor by the Reference Desk and on the 2nd floor across from the Media Services Desk that will copy, print, scan and email documents. Patrons who do not have a valid Hope ID are required to pay 10 cents per page at the Circulation Desk. There is a photocopier on the 2nd floor for print jobs requiring special size paper, transparencies, larger originals, and higher volume print jobs. Patrons who do not have a valid Hope ID are required to pay 10 cents per page at either the 2nd floor Media Desk or the 1st floor Circulation Desk. Materials such as transparencies, colored, and special sized paper can be purchased at the 2nd floor Media Desk. Color copies, color transparencies, color ink prints, and laminating are done by the Media Services staff. For more information about Media Services, visit Getting Change, Refunds, Borrowing MoneyNeed change? Use the bill changing machine near the 1st floor copier to turn $1 and $5 bills into quarters. Money lost in library vending machines can be refunded at the Main Circulation Desk. Placing a Hold on Library MaterialPlace a Hold Request on materials to prevent anyone else from renewing or borrowing them.
Using ReservesFaculty members reserve materials that must be used by members of specific classes. Music reserves are in the Music Library in Nykerk Hall. All other reserves are at the 1st floor Reserve Desk. Present your valid Hope ID card and ask for material by name of the instructor. Reserve items may be used one at a time for up to two hours in the library. Your ID card will be returned when the reserve item is returned. Open Reserve items are on their usual library shelves but may not be checked out of the building. Please put them back on a reshelving cart when finished.
