Research Education in Upper Level Courses
Although First Year Seminar and English 113 are required to include a research component, many other classes at Hope College include research as an integral part of the learning process. Over the years, many faculty have requested a librarian to teach a session on discipline-specific sources. In these sessions, librarians are able to teach advanced search techniques as well as helpful hints for specific databases, web searches, etc. Recently, many students have made use of library web pages designed specifically for their class. Classes of 20 or fewer students may ask to schedule a class with a librarian in the Library Teaching Lab. Larger classes often are scheduled in the Granberg Room.
