Searching JSTORVan Wylen Library offers access to JSTOR, a comprehensive journal digitization project. JSTOR contains backfiles of over 100 core scholarly journals from such diverse disciplines as anthropology, economics, history, literature, and sociology. Some journal runs begin as early as the 1800s. Each original journal page is scanned to provide full images of the text. You are able to view images of the original pages as if you were browsing the original journal itself. JSTOR offers two ways to navigate: searching and browsing. The search option allows you to enter keyword, author, or title searches.
Next choose to search one journal, a group of journals, or every journal that JSTOR offers. You must select at least one journal before JSTOR will perform a search.
Select the browse option to view the table of contents of a particular issue of a journal. Choose a journal, then a volume number, and finally choose the articles you wish to view.
Once you have found an article you want to access, you may choose the View Article option to see the article online page by page. This is the quickest way to read a few pages of the article to see if you want to print it. If you decide you do want to print the article, choose the Print option to get the full image article using JSTOR's own JPRINT application or Adobe Acrobat. You can download JPRINT to your own computer for easier and quicker printing.
The most recent 2-5 years of journal issues are not available in JSTOR. If you are looking for a recent article from a JSTOR journal, be sure to check our e-journals list and HopeCAT to see if we have access to recent years of the journal electronically or in print. For more information on using JSTOR, contact the reference desk at 395-7904 or visit JSTOR's online help area.
