Jessica A. Rankins

Jessica graduated from Hope College in May of 2007, with a B.A. in Biology and minor in Chemistry. She was born in Middletown, Connecticut, and moved to Rochester Hills, Michigan with her family when she was three.

Jessica took part in many organizations on Hope’s campus, such as becoming Vice President of Delta Sigma Theta in 2006 and then President in 2007. She was a member of the Phelps Scholars Program, SAC (Social Activities Committee), the Pre-Health Professions Honor Society Alpha Epsilon Delta, and she also served on the E-Board as secretary of the Black Student Union.
Aside from her campus involvement, she also took part in Undergraduate Biology Research in 2005, spent May term of 2006 taking a Spanish medical course at the "Universidad de Autónoma de Guadalajara" School of Medicine, and served as a Freedom Village Nursing Home Volunteer. We now are catching up with her following graduation:

“Currently, I am a second year medical student at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan. My career goal does not allow for much free time, but when I do find time, I enjoy reading, shopping, crocheting, and spending time with family, friends and Sorors. My future goal is to become a physician specializing in either oncology or obstetrics and gynecology.”
