Hope College is on its way to claiming yet
another MIAA All-Sports championship. After winning two league
championships this winter season and finishing second in two
others, Hope has expanded its lead in the All-Sports standings to
20 points.
The MIAA All-Sports Award is based on the cumulative
performance of each member school in the league's 18 sports for
men and women.
Hope teams won MIAA championships in men's basketball and
women's swimming during the winter season and finished in second
place in women's basketball and men's swimming.
Hope has 107 All-Sports points after the winter season
followed by Calvin 87, Kalamazoo 74, Alma 71, Albion 64, Adrian
37 and Olivet 30.
So far this year Hope teams have won four conference
championships. Last fall the Flying Dutchmen were co-champions
in football while the Flying Dutch won the volleyball crown.
The finishes of other teams so far this year are: men's
cross country, third; men's golf, second; men's soccer, second;
women's cross country, second; women's golf, second; and women's
soccer, third.
The MIAA All-Sports award has been presented since 1934-35.
