Both Hope College basketball teams will compete
in the NCAA Division III championship tournament.

The Flying Dutchmen (22-4) are seeded second in the six-team
Great Lakes Region and will have a first round bye in the men's
tournament. On Saturday Hope will host the winner of a Thursday
first round game between sixth-seeded Baldwin-Wallace, Ohio (17-
10) and third-seeded Allegheny, Pa. (21-6). The 7:30 p.m. game
will be played at the Dow Center on the Hope College campus.

The Flying Dutch are seeded fifth in the six-team Great
Lakes Region and will travel to fourth-seeded Baldwin-Wallace
(22-5) in Berea, Ohio on Wednesday night for a first round game
in the women's tournament. The Hope-BW winner will play at
second-seed DePauw, Ind. (22-4) on Saturday.

The Flying Dutchmen, under veteran coach Glenn Van Wieren,
will be making their 14th appearance in the NCAA Division III
men's tournament. Two years ago Hope finished second in the
nation and last year advanced to the quarterfinals before losing.

The Flying Dutch, guided by second-year coach Brian
Morehouse, are making tbeir third tournament appearance. The
1990 Flying Dutch won the national championship. The team last
appeared in the playoffs in 1994.
