The 1998 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic
Association (MIAA) all-conference team announced today has a new
look as seven of the eight first team members are being honored
for the first time. It is also a team of the future as the honor
squad includes two freshmen, four sophomores, one junior and one
senior.
The honor team is led by Alma junior Ellen Bradbury of
Dexter who was voted the league's most valuable player by
conference coaches. Bradbury averaged 17.8 points per conference
game this season. She led the conference is field goal shooting
(53%) and tied for third in rebounding (7.6 per game).
The only repeater on the All-MIAA first team is Calvin
senior Kerry Walters of Grand Rapids (South Christian HS). A
two-time honoree, Walters led the Knights to their third
consecutive MIAA championship.
Joining Bradbury and Walters on the first team are Calvin
sophomore Mindi Andringa of Pella, Iowa (Pella Christian HS),
Albion sophomore Kacy Davidson of Jackson (Northwest HS), Hope
sophomore Lisa Hoekstra of Grandville (Calvin Christian HS), Hope
freshman Kristin Koenigsknecht of St. Johns, Adrian sophomore Ann
Terpstra of Grass Lake (Chelsea HS), and Kalamazoo freshman Mary
Jane Valade of Farmington Hills (Mercy HS).
Players elected to the All-MIAA second team include Adrian
junior Carolyn Bollenbacher of Bay Port (Laker HS), Calvin senior
Sara Burde of Newaygo, Olivet senior Nikki Cirka of Bear Lake,
Alma sophomore Shannon Gross of New Lothrop, Hope senior Tara
Hosford 0f Grand Rapids (Calvin Christian HS), Kalamazoo junior
Kelly LaCosse of Farmington Hills (Harrison HS), Calvin junior
Jodi Van Noord of Hudsonville (Unity Christian HS), and Albion
senior Sarah Walbridge of Potterville.
