The Flying Dutch finished 17th in a field of 21 teams at the NCAA Division III women's national championship meet in Carlisle, Pa. on November 21.

MIAA member Calvin won the women's national championship finishing with 124 points. Hope ended with 359 points.

Hope senior Becky Timmer of Pella, Iowa earned All-America honors for the second time in her career as she finished 19th in the field of 180 competitors. The 5K race was won by Cheryl Smith of SUNY-Cortland in 17:48.39. Timmer's time was 18:32.32. A year ago she was 29th at the national meet.

Other Hope squad members included Cynthia Bannink, a senior from Holland, Mich. (Holland Christian HS) in 124th place (19:43.83); Andrea Egeler, a sophomore from Fruitport, Mich. (Fruitport HS) in 156th place (20:16.69); Jennifer Ernst, a sophomore from Westerville, Ohio (Westerville HS) in 169th place (2032.85); Jaimie Passchier, a sophomore Rockford, Mich. (Rockford HS), in 165th place (20:28.50); Nicole Reynolds, a sophomore from Mattawan, Mich. (Mattawan HS) in 137th place (19:54.40); and Ellen Schultz, a senior from Glen Lake, Mich. (Maple City-Glen Lake HS) in 57th place (19:03.65).
