The Pew Younger Scholars Program has announced that two Hope College seniors have been chosen as participants in summer seminars at the University of Notre Dame.

Ryan Atwell of Muscatine, Iowa, who is pursuing
majors in religion, philosophy and psychology, will be one
of the seven students in a seminar on New Testament ethics
led by Professor Richard Hays of Duke University.
Erica Puntel of Centervillle, Ohio, a history and
religious studies double major, will work with Professor
John Van Engen of Notre Dame, in a seminar titled
"Community, Devotion, and Dissent in the Late Middle Ages."
Atwell and Puntel are members of the Hope Pew
Society, one of the 15 such organizations at Christian
colleges in the United States.  The purpose of the Hope Pew
Society is to challenge some of the college's most
academically successful students with a vision of college
and especially university teaching careers as avenues to
Christain service, and to help the students gain admission
to the doctoral programs at major universities.
The seminars at the University of Notre Dame will
run Tuesday, May 25, through Tuesday, June 15.
