The traditional Meet the Dutchmen scrimmage featuring the Hope College football team will be held Saturday (Sept. 2).

The scrimmage will be held at the college's Ekdal J. Buys athletic fields which is north of Holland Municipal Stadium. The scrimmage will begin at 10 a.m. Admission is free.

With a pre-season roster of 119 players, coach Dean Kreps and his staff have been busy preparing the Flying Dutchmen for the school's 91st year of gridiron action.

The Flying Dutchmen open their season Saturday, Sept. 9 with the 35th annual Hope/Holland Community Day game. The contest against Valparaiso, Ind. will be played under the lights of Holland Municipal Stadium. Kickoff will be 6:30 p.m. The game will be preceded by a picnic on the Hope campus. After the game there will be a fireworks display.

Hope was co-champion of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in 1999 and posted an overall 5-4 record.
