Hope senior co-captain Todd Tester of Traverse City, Mich. will be part of an elite group of small college football players competing in the Aztec Bowl in Mexico on Saturday, Dec. 18.

The all-conference defensive back is one of 38 players from NCAA Division III colleges invited to play in the third annual bowl game against an all-star team from Mexico.

The bowl is sponsored by the American College Football Coaches Association. The American team will be coached by Hope graduate Ron Schipper '52 who had a distinguished coaching career at Central College in Pella, Iowa.

Tester intercepted six passes and was second on the team in tackles this fall as the Flying Dutchmen were co-champions of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

He is the second Hope player invited to play in the Aztec Bowl. Running back Brandon Graham '98 played in the inaugural bowl game in 1997.
