Awards for outstanding contributions to Hope's fall sports teams have been announced.

Cross Country -- The most valuable runners in cross country were Jennifer Ernst, a senior from Westerville, Ohio (Westerville HS), and Craig Veldman, a senior from Sawyer, Mich. (Three Oaks-River Valley HS). Selected the most improved runners were Kevin Woloszyn, a junior from Oak Lawn, Ill. (Oak Lawn HS); Anna King, a junior from Downers Grove, Ill. (Downers Grove North HS); and sophomore Sarah Sanderson of Holland, Mich. (Holland HS). Voted the best newcomers were Veronica Farley, a freshman from Ann Arbor, Mich. (Pioneer HS) and Donavon Hornbeck of Ovid, Mich. (Ovid Elsie HS).

Football -- The most valuable players in football were Matt Bride, a senior linebacker from Petoskey, Mich. (Petoskey HS), and J.D. Graves, a senior quarterback from Troy, Mich. (Troy Athens HS). The coaches' Allen C. Kinney Award recognizing maximum contributions to the football was presented to senior Scott Langlois of Hopkins, Mich. (Hopkins HS).

Golf -- The most valuable players in golf were Aaron Vandenberg, a senior from Holland, Mich. (Holland HS); Lacey Wicksall, a freshman from Traverse City, Mich. (Traverse City Central HS); and Eric Wohlfield, a junior from Brighton, Mich. (Brighton HS). The leadership in men's golf of senior captain Mike Feyen of East Grand Rapids, Mich. (Grand Rapids Christian HS) was recognized.

Soccer -- The most valuable players in soccer were Ed Huebner, a freshman from Portage, Mich. (Portage Northern HS); Jon Kucinski, a junior from Portage, Mich. (Portage Northern HS); and Beth Stygstra, a junior from Holland, Mich. (West Ottawa HS). Danielle Nave, a freshman from Kalamazoo, Mich. (Loy Norrix HS), was honored as the rookie of the year in the women's program. Selected the most improved players were Lauren Hinkle, a freshman from Indianapolis, Ind. (North Central HS) and Devin Nuner, a junior from South Bend, Ind. (South Bend HS). Honored as the most inspirational players were Charlie Matz, a junior from Petoskey, Mich. (Petoskey HS), and Laura Splinter, a senior from Libertyville, Ill. (Libertyville HS).

Volleyball -- The most valuable player in volleyball was senior Kim Grotenhuis of Hamilton, Mich. (Hamilton HS) while named the most improved player was sophomore Laura Hahnfeld of Midland, Mich. (Midland HS).
