Tom Smith has been named the Hope College women's golf coach effective with Spring, 2001 competition. A member of the Hope faculty since 1993, Dr. Smith is an associate professor of business administration with a specialty in operations management.

Tom Smith has been named the Hope College women's golf coach effective with Spring, 2001 competition. A member of the Hope faculty since 1993, Dr. Smith is an associate professor of business administration with a specialty in operations management.

He received the bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Michigan and the master of business administration degree from the University of Iowa. In 1993 he was awarded the Pd.D. degree from the University of Michigan. Prior to coming to Hope he was in the computer manufacturing sector.

An avid golfer, this is his first formal coaching experience. "I hope to be able to combine my love of athletics and golf in particular with a love for teaching," he said.

Smith and his wife Cheryl have two teenage daughters, Corrie and Erin. Cheryl Smith is employed in the college's health clinic.
