Guest artists Clay Jenkins and Kim
Richmond will perform with Hope College's Jazz Chamber
Ensemble and Faculty Jazz Group on Wednesday, April 4, at 7
p.m. in Wichers Auditorium of Nykerk Hall of Music.

They will also be conducting a jazz clinic on
Wednesday, April 4, at 5 p.m., also in Wichers Auditorium.

The public is invited to both events. Admission
is free.

With Richmond on alto and soprano saxophones, and
Jenkins on trumpet, the pair has toured throughout the
country playing jazz clubs, concerts, and university
campuses. Both from Los Angeles, the musicians have
established reputations as first-rate jazz performers and
improvisers.

The "Los Angeles Times" has said, "alto
saxophonist Richmond and trumpeter Jenkins have discovered a
middle ground between opposing jazz camps, matching
sophisticated avant-garde stylings with mainstream
sensibilities."

Together they have released two albums: "Range,"
the first, on the Nine Winds record label, and "Look at the
Time," on the Chase Music Group label. They have each also
released solo albums, and played on numerous other
recordings.

Nykerk Hall of Music is located in the middle of
campus, along the former 12th Street between College and
Columbia avenues. Additional information may be obtained by
calling the college's department of music at (616) 395-7650.
