Boss is included in the feature Faces in the Crowd for being named the NCAA Division III male swimmer of the year.

He won the national championship in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events.

He won the 200 breaststroke for a third consecutive year, setting a Division III record of 1:58.90. He established the previous mark (2:00.53) as a freshman in 1999.

He won the 100 breaststroke (:54.70) for the second time in his career. He was one-hundredth of a second off the Division III record (:54.69) he set in 1999.

Boss has been an NCAA All-American 13 times in his career, six as an individual and seven times in relays.

It is the second time that Boss has been featured in Sports Illustrated. Last summer he was pictured in a two-page spread while competing in the U.S. Olympic Trials.
