Hope College has made three appointments to the "Hope Fund" staff within the college's Advancement division.

Scott Wolterink has been appointed to the newly created position of director of the Hope Fund. Susan Feldkamp has been appointed manager of the fund, and Dianne De Young has been appointed the fund's assistant manager.

Wolterink, Feldkamp and De Young all held other positions at the college immediately prior to assuming their new responsibilities.

Wolterink joined the Hope staff in 1996 as a regional advancement director. In addition to providing overall leadership and direction for the Hope Fund, he will continue in his role as a regional advancement and major gifts officer.

He is president-elect of the West Michigan Association of Fundraising Professionals, and is vice president and program chair of the West Michigan chapter of the National Committee on Planned Giving (Western Michigan Planned Giving Group).

Prior to joining the Hope staff, he was director of the Career Development Center at Lake Forest College. He is a 1988 Hope graduate, and holds a master of education degree from the University of Vermont.

Feldkamp has been at Hope since 1984, serving as administrative assistant to the provost. In 1994, she was named the Key Personnel Inc. Office Professional of the Year. She is a 1998 Hope graduate.

As manager of the Hope Fund, she oversees all aspects of the fund, including alumni, parent, corporate and church solicitation methods and systems.

De Young joined the advancement staff in 1998 as administrative assistant to the vice president for college advancement. Prior to that, she was a writer in the college's Admissions Office from 1991 to 1997. She is a 1969 graduate of Michigan State University.

In her new role with the Hope Fund, she has supervisory responsibility for the college's annual phonathon and mail solicitations.

The Hope Fund, formerly known as the Annual Fund, solicits ongoing, unrestricted financial support from alumni, corporations, churches, parents and friends for operations and programs at the college.

According to Wolterink, contributions to the Hope Fund represent a comprehensive endorsement of Hope College, and each gift helps provide the margin of excellence that a Hope education offers. "As a team, I am confident that our creative thinking skills and 'can-do' attitude will enable us to be effective in working with Hope alumni and friends to meet the ongoing need for these critical annual operational funds," he said.
