Hope College freshman Lacey Wicksall of Traverse City, Mich. has been voted the national Division III freshman player of the year by the College Golf Coaches Association.
The honor was presented at the NCAA Division III championships in Decatur, Ill. where she is competing in the national tournament.
Wicksall was the MIAA medalist last fall setting a league stroke record.
It is the second time in three years that a Hope golfer has been voted the national freshman of the year. In 1999 Eric Wohlfield was presented the honor after qualifying for nationals as a freshman.
