Judy Hillman, who is the Howard R. and Margaret E. Sluyter Associate Professor of Art and Design, designed the exhibition "Off the Record" for the Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Society Museum.

She collaborated on the project with one of her former design students, Rebecca Flory '97 of Douglas.

The exhibition, which opens to the general public on Sunday, May 27, features previously-unpublished photographs taken in the area by the late Bill Simmons in the 1940s and 1950s. A team of volunteers reviewed some 3,000 of Simmons's negatives to select and print those featured in the exhibition and published in a companion volume.

The museum is located at 735 Park, along the Kalamazoo River at the foot of Mount Baldhead.

Staffed by volunteers, the museum will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., through June and in September and October; and daily from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in July and August. Admission is free.

The exhibition will continue through Sunday, Oct. 28.
