Hope senior pitcher Nate DeVisser of Mattawan, Mich. has been named to the Mideast All-Region baseball team.

DeVisser, who tied a Hope single season record for victories (8) and pitched the team's only victory in the NCAA tournament last weekend, was named to the second team.

He is the first Hope player to achieve All-Region status since 1998 and the 14th in school history. The team is selectred by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

The lefthanded hurler pitched eight complete games in 11 starts this spring compiling an 8-1 record and 1.61 earned run average. In 87 innings he struck out 72 batters while walking only 22. Opponents batted just .193 against him.

A four-year letterwinner and co-captain of the team, DeVisser compiled a 17-8 career record. In his final two seasons he had 15 complete games in 22 starts.

Last weekend in the NCAA Division III Midwest Region tournament he pitched a complete game 2-1 victory over top-seeded Wartburg, Iowa.
