An Undergraduate Research Symposium at Hope College on Thursday, Oct. 11, will feature work by approximately 100 students.

The symposium will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the main ballroom of the college's Haworth Inn and Conference Center.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The symposium will feature "poster presentations" chronicling student involvement as co-investigators in original research and other beyond-the-classroom learning experiences. The student participants will represent a variety of academic disciplines.

"This event is an opportunity to bring our community of scholars together and to share with a broader audience many of the ways that students at Hope engage in active learning," said Dr. James Gentile, who is dean for the natural sciences at Hope and coordinating the event. "The students as well as their mentors will be on-hand to present the work that they have been doing for the past year."

The Haworth Inn and Conference Center faces College Avenue between Ninth and 10th streets. Light refreshments will be provided during the event.
