The effort of senior Dylan Wade of Beulah, Mich. (Benzie Central HS) highlighted the Hope College performance at NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional cross country meet.

Wade qualified for the Division III national championship meet to be held Saturday (Nov. 17) in Rock Island, Ill. by finishing tenth in the field of 210 runners. He is a four-time Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) all-conference first team runner and will be competing at nationals for the first time.

The winner of the men's 8K race was Dan Hoekstra of Calvin in 25:16.2. Wade was timed in 24:45.5.

MIAA champion Calvin won both the men's and women's championships. Both Hope teams finished tenth in their respective fields.

In the men's competition, Calvin finished with 28 points. Hope totaled 269 points. Joining Wade in Hope's effort were senior Keith Cravotta of Sussex, N.J. (Vernon Township HS), 45th (26:59.6); senior Dane Splinter of Libertyville, Ill. (Libertyville HS), 67th (27:26.3); sophomore Kyle Morrison of Niles (Niles HS), 69th (27:27.2); and sophomore Donavon Hornbeck of Ovid (Ovide Elsie HS), 78th (27:38.7).

In the women's competition, Calvin totaled 26 points. Hope finished with 325 points. The winner of the 5K race was Lisa Nicolson of Anderson, Ind. (17:54.2). Hope finishers were freshman Tina Pike of Rochester, Minn. (Century HS), 42nd (19:22.5); junior Kristen Post of Holland (West Ottawa HS), 47th (19:28.0); freshman Martha Bouwens of Zeeland (Zeeland HS), 66th (19:47.5); sophomore Martha Graham of Midland (Midland HS), 74th (19:54.9); and senior Jenna Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio (Anderson HS), 96th (20:16.8).
