Hope College junior pitcher Andrea Adams of Fairgrove (Akron-Fairgrove HS) has been named to the Division III all-region softball first team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

As a first team honoree, Adams becomes eligible for consideration as a Division III All-American. The national team will be announced later this week in conjunction with the NCAA Division III championship finals.

This spring Adams was voted the most valuable player in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). She topped the league in victories (8), earned run average (0.56) and strikeouts (59).

For the entire season she posted a 16-9 record throwing a no-hitter, seven shutouts and three one-hitters. She set a Hope single season record for strikeouts (156).

This marks the 13th consecutive year that Hope has placed a player on the all-region team.

Adams is one of four MIAA players named to the first team. She is joined by Alma catcher Liz Knochel, Albion shortstop Sarah Caskey and Adrian outfielder Jodi LaRocca.
