Judy Hillman, who is the Howard R. and Margaret E. Sluyter Associate Professor of Art and Design at Hope College, designed the exhibition "Storm, Fire and Ice: Shipwrecks of Saugatuck Area," currently on display at the Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Society Museum.

The exhibition centers around the fate of the steamer "Chicora," which sank in 1895 during a winter storm, with no survivors. Although the wreckage was never found, in a timely twist divers have recently discovered a wreck 16 miles out from Saugatuck which many suspect is the long-missing vessel.

The museum is located in Douglas, on the west bank of the Kalamazoo River at the foot of Mount Baldhead. The exhibition will continue through Sunday, Oct. 27.

Staffed by volunteers, the museum is open daily from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2, and will be open in the fall on Friday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
