The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has honored Hope College swimmers for acadmeic excellence during the 2001-02 school year.

The women's swimming team has been named to the Division III Honor Roll for maintaining a cumulative 3.418 grade point average (GPA). It was the 15th best cumulative GPA average among all NCAA Division III women's swimming teams and the highest among all MIAA members. It marks the 11th consecutive year that the Flying Dutch, coached by John Patnott, have achieved the CSCAA distinction.

Two Hope swimmers were named CSCAA Academic All-Americans having competed at the NCAA Division III championships and maintained a cumulative GPA higher than 3.50. Honored were Daniel Bouwens of Zeeland, Mich. (Zeeland HS) and Elizabeth Fredericks of Yucaipa, Calif. (San Bernardino HS). Bouwens posted a 3.90 GPA while Fredericks had a 3.71 mark.
