 The return of 10 letterwinners offers a season of promise for the Hope College women's soccer team.

The Flying Dutch will open their season on the road traveling to Siena Heights on Monday, Sept. 2 before playing three consecutive home games. The home opener will be a weekend tournament co-hosted with Calvin on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7. The Dutch and Lady Knights will exchange games with Aquinas and Grove City, Pa.

Coach Leigh Sears begins her third season with a roster that includes 13 freshmen, four sophomores, four juniors and two seniors.

Co-captains are senior Mary Ayres of Plainwell, Mich. (Plainwell HS) and junior Danielle Nave of Kalamazoo, Mich. (Loy Norrix HS).

Other returning letterwinners include sophomore Laurel Albonico of Spring Lake, Mich. (Spring Lake HS), sophomore Stephanie Bylsma of Hudsonville, Mich. (Hudsonville HS), senior Kate Dornbos of Vicksburg, Mich. (Vicksburg HS), sophomore Dawn Gillam of Portage (Portage Northern HS), junior Lauren Hinkle of Indianapolis, Ind. (North Central HS), junior Kareen Hollenbeck of Montrose, Colo. (Montrose HS), sophomore Katie Hughes of Paw Paw, Mich. (Paw Paw HS), sophomore Kim Lesmes of Fredonia, N.Y. (Fredonia HS), and junior Catie Neidlinger of Marshall, Mich. (Marshall HS).
