The Hope College men's soccer team has been honored for academic excellence by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for the second year in-a-row.

The Hope team maintained a cumulative 3.25 grade point average (GPA). They are among just 67 men's programs in all NCAA divisions to achieve a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher during the 2001-02 academic year.

Hope is the only MIAA men's team to be honored and the cumulative 3.25 average the 12th best among among all the honorees.

An award will be presented to coach Steven Smith at the association's national convention in Kansas City, Mo. on Thursday, Jan. 16.
