For the third consecutive year, Hope's national champion swimmer Josh Boss is a candidate for Michigan's top sports figure. The 2002 Hope grad from Jenison, Mich. (Jenison HS) is among 23 nominees for the Detroit Free Press honor of "Michigan's Best" for 2002.

For the third consecutive year, Hope's national champion swimmer Josh Boss is a candidate for Michigan's top sports figure. The 2002 Hope grad from Jenison, Mich. (Jenison HS) is among 23 nominees for the Detroit Free Press honor of "Michigan's Best" for 2002.

Boss was the NCAA Division III national champion in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke events last year. By winning the 200, he became just the sixth swimmer in Division III history to win the same event four straight years. He was also the national 100 breaststroke champion three times (1999, 2001, 2002).

Boss ended his career an NCAA All-American 17 times. He was the most valuable swimmer in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) three times and was the Division III swimmer of the year as a junior.
