Hope College senior Don Overbeek of Wyoming, Mich. (Calvin Christian HS) has been named a Division III basketball All-American by d3hoops.com.

He was named to the second team in a vote of sports information directors, the media and coaches.

Also voted the most valuable player in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Assoiciation (MIAA) this year, Overbeek was instrumental in Hope's claim to a league co-championship and berth in the NCAA Division tournament.

He lettered four years in basketball and was a two-time All-MIAA first team honoree.

This season Overbeek led the MIAA in blocked shots for the third consecutive year. He ended Hope's all-time shot-block leader with 264, including 94 this season. As a junior and senior, he had back-to-back seasons of scoring more than 400 points and exceeding 200 rebounds. This year he scored 408 points and grabbed 238 rebounds.

He ended his career among Hope's all-time leading scorers with 1,259 points.
