Following the success of the September 27-28 reading of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Fellowship of the Ring," a marathon reading of Tolkien's "The Two Towers" will take place at Hope College on Saturday, April 5.
Following the success of the September 27-28 reading of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Fellowship of the Ring," a marathon reading of Tolkien's "The Two Towers" will take place at Hope College on Saturday, April 5.
The reading will last from 10 a.m. to approximately 11 p.m., and will take place in the Kletz on the ground level of the DeWitt Center, located on Columbia Avenue at 12th Street. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided.
As before, the event is organized by Dr. Curtis Gruenler of the Hope English faculty and Hope students, and is sponsored by the college's department of English.
"The Two Towers" will be read out loud in its entirety, with students, faculty, and community members signing up for 10-minute slots. In case of fair weather, the reading may move to the college's Pine Grove in the afternoon.

"The Two Towers" is the second novel in the acclaimed fantasy series "The Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien (1892-1973), with over 50 million copies sold since its original publication. New Line Cinema has made it into a major motion picture series directed by Peter Jackson, with the third and last movie due in theaters this December.
