The 26th annual Holland golf outing at Hope College, the "Bob DeYoung Hope Classic," will be held on Monday, June 23, at the Holland Country Club.

The long-running event was re-named in 2000 for Bob DeYoung, who retired in June of that year as vice president for college advancement after working at Hope since 1965 in admissions, student development and advancement. DeYoung had been instrumental in establishing the outing.

The golf outing's format is 18-hole scramble with foursome play. Sponsored by the Hope Alumni Association, the event is open to all friends of the college.

Players may sign up as singles, in pairs or as part of a foursome. Singles and pairs will be combined into foursomes by the Alumni Office.

To accommodate players, there will be two shotgun starts, at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. respectively. All foursomes will be placed in one of three divisions based on the team members' average 18-hole scores.

First place prizes in each division have been contributed by Macatawa Bank (Division I); Smith & Associates Investment Management Services (Division II); and Creative Dining Services (Division III). Second-place prizes have been contributed by Lakewood Inc. (Division I); Lokker Rutgers (Division II); and HUB International (Division III). Registration gifts have been provided by Elzinga & Volkers Construction Services and NatCity Investments Inc. Door prizes will also be presented at a pig roast in the evening.

In addition to golfing, participants may register for an 11:30 a.m. cookout lunch and the 6:15 p.m. pig roast. Activities will also include a reception at 5:30 p.m.

The entry fee for golfing only is $48, for the cookout lunch is $12 and for the dinner is $22.

Reservations must be made by Wednesday, June 18. Those interested in additional information or making reservations should call the college's office of public and alumni relations at (616) 395-7860.
