Multi-Dove award nominee Sarah Masen will perform at Dimnent Chapel on Friday, August 29, at 9 p.m., opening the second year of Hope College's Christian Music Series.

After performing at Hope College in November, 2001, many students requested that Masen return to campus. The singer-songwriter returns this time not only to perform for the Holland community, but to serve as well. On Sat., Aug. 30 Masen will head out into the community to volunteer with Hope students as part of the annual Time to Serve Project.

A leading contemporary Christian musician, Masen had three top-10 hits from her 1996, self-titled debut album, including the number-one single, "All Fall Down." She also received Dove award nominations for New Artist of the Year and Pop Album of the Year.

Her follow-up 1998 release, "Carry Us Through," included the top-10 hit, "75 Grains of Sand." Her most recent release, "The Dreamlife of Angels," has continued her combination of pop music with an edge.

"I expect the music to fall into the hands of people who are frustrated with the popular outlets of faith and community," Masen said, "and who are longing for lives of integrity and beauty."

"Contemporary Christian Music Magazine" has said that Masen "has been touched by angels.

Masen Will start her visit by leading Hope students in their short chapel service at 10:30 a.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

Tickets for the evening performance will be available to the general public for $10 each on Friday-Saturday, Aug. 22-23, and Monday- Friday, Aug. 25-29, at the box office in the theatre lobby of the DeWitt Center, which can be called at (616) 395-7890. Box office hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tickets will also be sold at the door, if avaiable.

Dimnent Chapel is located at the corner of College Avenue and 12th Street.
