Hope Summer Repertory Theatre (HSRT) opens another great year of theatre with the hit Broadway musical, "Seussical" at 8 p.m. on June 17 at the DeWitt theatre.

"Seussical," which runs in rotation from June 17 to July 26, is a fresh and fun look at the magical work of Dr. Seuss. The musical was created for both children and adults to enjoy.

The story includes 14 Dr. Seuss classics merging together in one hilarious tale. When chaos erupts in the Jungle of Nool, it will take the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, and a gaggle of your favorite characters to bring harmony back to the world.

The Tony-award winning team of Lynn Arhens and Stephen Flaherty wrote the music and lyrics after creating the idea with former Monty Python writer and actor, Eric Idle.

HSRT's production includes Equity Guest Artists David Studwell as Horton and Christine Nelson as Gertrude. Clark MacFarlane plays "the boy," and Kevin Lind dons the hat as the Cat.

HSRT Artistic Director David Colacci is directing the show, while Fred Tessler serves as Musical Director. Meribeth Kisner is choreographer.

After the June 17 opening, "Seussical" will show at 8 p.m. on June 18, 21, 22, 23, 27, 29, July 5, 7, 9, 11, 15, 19, 21, and 26. On July 14 there will be a 2 p.m. matinee performance. A July 13 production has already sold out and several other shows are close to sell outs since tickets went on sale May 26.

While at the box office, be sure to reserve tickets for the other great HSRT mainstage shows, including the Alan Ayckbourn comedy, "Bedroom Farce" the musical "Spitfire Grill, and a modern interpretation of Moliere's "Scapin." HSRT's "second stage" show is the comedy-drama, "Drawer Boy," while Holland's Park Theatre is home to HSRT's popular cabaret offering, "Happy Holidaze!." The Children's Performance Troupe is presenting Jon Scieszka's "The True Stories of the Three Pigs and The Frog Prince (cont'd)" and Dennis Foon's "The Short Tree and the Bird Who Could Not Sing."

The ticket office is located in the DeWitt Center, on the HopeCollege campus, at the corner of 12th Street and Columbia Avenue in Holland. Prices range from $8-$25 for musicals, and $8-$18 for plays.
