The department of music at Hope College will feature a concert by pianist Aviram Reichert on Friday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The program will include Franz Schubert's "Sonata in B flat D960," Ludwig van Beethoven's "Sonata in C, Op. 2 No. 3" and select etudes from Frederic Chopin.

A faculty member at Grand Valley State University, Reichert has received high praise and numerous awards for his playing. The "New York Times" has described him as a "...thoughtful and exceptionally musical player." The "Los Angeles Times" has said that he plays "with grace and point, power and finesse."

His awards include a bronze medal at the 1997 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, top prizes at the 1995 International Music Competition of Japan and the 1995 Epinal Competition in France, and top prize at the First Dong-A International Piano Competition in Seoul, Korea.

Reichert also is a frequent guest of orchestras worldwide. He has played with the Tokyo City Symphony Orchestra, Eugene Symphony Orchestra, Traverse Symphony Orchestra, South Carolina Philharmonic, Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra and the Jerusalem Broadcast Symphony Orchestra, among many others.
