The public is invited. Admission is free.
"Newsweek" has called "The Da Vinci Code" "the most popular novel of our time," and "Time" has called the book "The novel that ate the world." It has sold more than 30 million copies in 44 languages, and in May will appear as a major motion picture starring Tom Hanks.
According to Tyler, "The Da Vinci Code" is reshaping views of religion and Christianity worldwide. He will examine ideas presented in the novel concerning the origins and history of Christianity, and will consider "What does the book tell us about religion and spirituality at the dawn of the 21st century?"
The address is being presented through the "Searching the Sacred Lecture Series" coordinated by the college's department of religion. Tyler is an associate professor of religion at Hope, where he has taught since 1995.
