In anticipation of the November election and the ballot proposal to ban affirmative action programs in Michigan, a panel on affirmative action will be presented at Hope College on Thursday, Sept. 21, at 3 p.m. in the Maas Center auditorium.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
The panel will consist of representatives from both sides of the affirmative action discussion, from Citizens for One United Michigan and The Michigan Civil Rights Initiative. The Maas Center is located on Columbia Avenue at 12th Street.
The panel is sponsored by the West Michigan College and University Presidents Implementation Group, which in addition to Hope consists of Aquinas College, Baker College, Calvin College, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Cornerstone University, Davenport University, Ferris State University, Grace Bible College, Grand Rapids Community College, Grand Valley State University, Kendall College of Art and Design, Kuyper College, Muskegon Community College and Western Michigan University. The group is sponsoring a second panel presentation on Thursday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center at Calvin College in Grand Rapids.
