Singer/songwriter Ben Kweller will perform through the Hope College Concert Series on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m. at the Knickerbocker Theatre in downtown Holland.

Tickets are $15 for the general public and $5 for those with a Hope College ID, and are available at the ticket office in the main lobby of the DeVos Fieldhouse.

Raised in Texas and interested in music at an early age, Kweller by his mid teens was performing with the band Radish. He subsequently set out on his own and moved to New York, and is based now in Brooklyn.

As influences, he has cited artists ranging from Buddy Holly, to Sonic Youth, Pavement, the Beatles and Bob Dylan.

His first LP, "Freak Out, It's Ben Kweller," has been followed by "Sha Sha," "On My Way" and, last year, "Ben Kweller." David Dye on NPR called the latest album, on which Kweller plays every instrument, ranging from guitar to glockenspiel, "accessible but atypical, charming and irreverent pop-rock."

The ticket office is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be called at (616) 395-7890.

The DeVos Fieldhouse is located at 222 Fairbanks Avenue, between Ninth and 11th streets. The Knickerbocker Theatre is located at 86 E. Eighth St.

The doors will open at 7:30 p.m. the night of the concert.
