Michael Fezzey, who is president and general manager of WJR 760 AM in Detroit, will present a lecture on journalism and broadcasting careers on Wednesday, April 18, at 4 p.m. at Hope College in the Martha Miller Center for Global Communication.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

Fezzey has been president and general manager of WJR-AM since December 1994. He has been with WJR since 1980, and prior to being named president served in various sales capacities with the station, including as general sales manager starting in 1988.

He is the former chairman of the Marketing Committee of the Detroit Chamber of Commerce; a member of The Alliance for a Safer, Greater Detroit; a graduate of Leadership Detroit XVI; former president of the Detroit Advertising Association; past state chairman of the March of Dimes; and active in the Detroit Police Athletic League and The Adcraft Club of Detroit. He also holds Board of Director positions with Cornerstone Schools, New Detroit, The Children's Center, Habitat for Humanity, The Detroit Economic Club and The Parade Company. He is also a member of the Blue Ribbon Committee which brought in $50 million in Kroc funds to the Detroit Salvation Army.

In 2006 Fezzey was appointed by Governor Jennifer Granholm to the Mentor Michigan Leadership Council. Also in 2006 he received an honorary doctorate from Central Michigan University.

A native Detroiter, he is married and has three children.
