HOLLAND -- Hope College senior Kyle Waterstone of Holland, Mich. has been named to the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Waterstone lettered four years in swimming and was captain both as a junior and senior.  An art major, he has received Academic Honor Roll recognition from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and was recently presented the Herman Miller Art Award for creative work in the field of visual arts.  While he has used all of his athletic eligibility, he will pursue a teaching certificate at Hope during the 2007-08 school year.  He is eligible to serve on the NCAA committee through the 2008-09 school year.  A graduate of Holland High School, he is the son of Kathy Waterstone of Holland.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee reviews and offers input on NCAA activities and proposed legislation that affect student-athlete welfare.  Waterstone will be a member of the Division III committee.

The committee is comprised of both female and male student-athletes charged with the responsibility of assisting in the review of NCAA proposed legislation and representing the voice of the student-athlete in the NCAA governance structure. The input is sought by a variety of constituencies within the Association. Student-athlete committee members have the opportunity to speak with their respective NCAA Management Councils, and may speak to legislative issues on the NCAA Convention floor.
