Music and visual art will intersect when the Hope College Wind Symphony performs "Images and Excursions" on Friday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The Wind Symphony will be collaborating with faculty member Anne Heath and five students in the department of art: Trevor Daly, Evan Dawson, Rebecca DeGraw, Julie Anne Gruenhagen and Julia Rottschafer. The students were given recordings of four pieces from the concert without titles and are creating works of art based solely on what they hear. The artwork will be featured in the concert.

The performance will open with "The Liberty Salvation is Created," by Pavel Tschesnokoff. Next will be "Excursions for Trumpet and Band," by Bruce Broughton, which will feature Hope faculty member Dorival Puccini, trumpet. Also included on the program will be "Adagio for Winds," by Joaquin Rodrigo; "Cloudburst," by Eric Whitacre; and "Vesuvius," by Frank Ticheli.

In addition, director Gabe Southard will give a pre-concert talk at 7 p.m. with notes and information regarding the concert.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located at 277 College Ave., at the corner of 12th Street and College Avenue.
