Matthew D'Oyly and John Jobson of the residential life staff at Hope College will both be making presentations during the annual national convention of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), being held in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday-Wednesday, March 29-April 2.
Jobson, who is assistant dean of students and director of residential life and housing, will present "Drawing on the Past; Charting the Future: Identity in College." The presentation will share the results of a study of seven female students that focused on ways that their identity changed during their time at the college and the elements of their experience that they identified as having an impact on that change.
D'Oyly, who is residential life coordinator in Kollen Hall, will present "Shifting Cultural Perceptions of Alcohol through Icon, Word and Practice," with Jobson serving as a co-presenter. The presentation will focus on the college's "1:1 (if at all)" alcohol education campaign with an emphasis on sharing different and creative ways to start conversations surrounding safe and responsible alcohol use through icon, word and practice.
